Tesla's name , recently, is beginning to come back into fashion but if I had to point to a person condemned to 'damnatio memoriae' I could certainly point to his name first. As is my wont, I do not want to chronicle as there is already a great deal of information about him and his life on the internet but rather to throw out a few cues for personal reflection and independent research of information.

There are still many who do not know how many of Tesla's inventions they use on a daily basis every day, and this anomaly is all the stranger the more essential they are to our lives today. Trivially I could mention that if we have electricity in our homes today and there is not a power plant on every block it is thanks to Tesla who discovered alternating electric current that makes it possible to transport large amounts of energy for miles and miles of distance .... I could also mention that if there are single-phase and polyphase electric motors (so those in your household appliances, washing machine, the pump in your dishwasher, blender, etc. ) is thanks to Nikola Tesla ... ... I might also remind all motorists, who today are faced with this momentous change between internal combustion engines and electric motors ( and we are still on the evolution of Tesla's rotating magnetic field motors) , that all the times they have used their cars, they have lit the famous 'spark plugs' ( which generate the spark for air/fuel/diesel combustion) a Tesla invention ( 16-8-1898 , patent US609,250 - link ) ... with an attached distributor which, however, is no longer used. I could remember neon ... how many do we still have in the house today?

I mean, if I were to make a list I think you would be surprised and incredulous ... enough to prompt you to do research ( which I would be glad to do), and then , to leave you further astonished I might, as a last fact, mention that, even today, integrated circuit manufacturers come across, when registering their patents for new electronic components, the usual and cumbersome patents of Tesla who laid the foundations of logic circuits (which were widely used in the 1970s 80s and 90s) for the production of chips dedicated to specific tasks. So, are we talking in the early 1800s about electronics? Yes, definitely .... and indeed ... let's add robotics as well, because he was the one who built the first automated systems that, even at that time, he remotely piloted!

Following this premise, and with the invitation to read with your own eyes what he wrote about himself in his autobiography and at least to browse through his patents ( I will link you at the bottom to a file that collects many of them), I hope that the question comes to everyone's mind : 'why have I never read anything about him in the school texts of History, Science, Physics ...?'

This is a good question, which I have not yet been able to answer. To discern what is real from what is legend one has to rely on objective facts, and surely the former are the patents themselves ... not appealable and objectively real; these already give a measure of the man Tesla and make his damnatio memoriae incomprehensible. But some of Tesla's patents were placed under secrecy by the U.S. state ... why? Tesla also built innovative weapons, this is known ... but he is also known to have created devices 'dangerous' to humans ... such as earthquake generators and climate control devices. The Bermuda Triangle , for example, appears to be the result of a Tesla experiment, the purpose of which was the illumination of the ocean night sky for navigation ... ... this took place after the sinking of the Titanic and according to some, the HAARP project was carried out by the U.S. state following Tesla's plans with the purpose of conditioning the climate; dwelling on this last point, there are enormous amounts of articles 'branding' this juxtaposition as improbable and conspiratorial but it is now clear that it is no longer possible to make fun of the world ... ... if wikipidia writes : (here the link)

I can absolutely say, therefore, that everything and the opposite of everything is said so that 'the whole' is debatable and nothing is 'objective'. These are hot topics that cannot and should not be entertained lightly because one would end up following one of the predominant 'fashionable' thoughts without having any understanding of what one is talking about. ' Silence is golden ' ... if one does not know what one is talking about it is better not to make judgments and try to inform oneself ( if the topic arouses interest) and, as I have just pointed out, one must choose one's sources of information carefully.

I want to quote here, to conclude the topic , Hon. Andreotti : " to think wrong is a sin, but often one guesses'.

Returning more strictly to Tesla and leaving aside the 'reactions' that his genius unleashed on the world in the years that followed him, I find it strange that many enthusiasts have tried their hand at building his famous coil to emit sparks and 'lightning'; actually electrical arcs that in power are far removed from natural lightning. That coil, on which many are enriched by writing books for construction, is a tuned high-frequency current transformer. That was the main instrument with which Tesla performed a multitude of high-voltage and high-frequency experiments, exploring all electromagnetic frequencies , from the lowest in resonance with the earth's (planet's) own , to the highest and most penetrating. Why is it presented as a children's game and sold on large online chains as a 'curiosity'? Done properly is used properly that is a tool ... before an invention! ... why do so few people understand it? Why are its properties not explored?

Tesla also invented his own turbine that harnessed the kinetic energy of the fluid that could be water, air, steam. This turbine has incredible efficiency and is used in so many plants even today, so he did not only deal with electricity in the strict sense. He wrote his own theory about electrons and the energy of the universe, he talked and wrote about atoms and their energy structure .... questioned the force of gravity, which, to tell the truth is still stationary many decades ago and makes use of a gravitational constant that we know is related to the distance from the Earth's surface ... and that therefore on reflection throws a lot of doubts on the interplanetary gravitational laws and, by reflection on the Earth's. Fantasizing brings to mind the 'UFOs' of the Third Reich of which there seems to be evidence in the post-war findings in Germany and the little-known Edward Leedskalnin (Tesla's great friend) and his Coral Castle ... yet, to this day, as with the pyramids, no one has yet figured out how he could have built that structure ... which is still there ... which anyone can go and see and touch. Probably, from time to time, one should be humble enough to understand that our studies cannot explain everything to us and that some things we have yet to relate and understand ... we can 'brand' them as bizarre, strange, conspiratorial or whatever we think best, but possible ... .... in a way not yet known to us, but evidently real.

I will not go into the 'struggle' he had with Edison or the history of all his biggest ( and some ) controversial financiers and how Tesla's life changed abruptly with the sinking of the Titanic in which the three biggest ( and richest ) financiers of his projects had been invited. And least of all about the relationship he had with J.P. Morgan about which you will find wonderful words by Tesla himself in his autobiography; words these that have to be well arranged in time and space ... words written in public, in a specific time.

How is it possible to distinguish legend from reality when the first to pose these mysteries are the very secrets imposed by successive states and governments over the years? In reality we know that Tesla was experimenting with electromagnetism ... we know that he had discovered the way to transfer energy without wires ... ...

A clarification should be made here for those who are not 'insiders' : here 'energy' is meant and not a simple radio communication , here we mean running an electric motor of several kw without any electrical connection ... that is, without wires! We are talking about a car in which the internal combustion engine was replaced with an electric one and the car ran without the use of batteries. I do not know if the scope of these statements is clear , but, it is obvious that it is not possible that such a man did not take a Nobel Prize ... for example.

What did Mr. Tesla do for the U.S. government during World War II? Why are there mysteries about his death ? Why at his death FBI seized his hotel room for a few days taking away a mountain of material ? These are objective data, with newspaper articles and photos of the time, the FBI itself admits to having secret Tesla documents. Why Tesla, died 'poor' but, in contradiction to this poverty lived in a hotel room ( a famous hotel) and did not miss anything ? How come , and here I have to say 'it seems' even though there are recorded testimonies, that the rooms next to Tesla's were constantly occupied by FBI agents? Why had Tesla chosen to live in a hotel that, as it happens, had in its basement (the only one of its kind) a power plant that powered the whole hotel and was oversized so much that it could power half the city? Was he continuing his experiments? These also, are objective data ... the hotel is still there ... and underneath is still the generator!

I have been able to replicate some patents that, I can say, work; others are beyond my economic reach and therefore will continue to be , for me, hypotheses ... many others, on the other hand, are clearly beyond my intellectual capacity and, honestly, I say I don't understand them and I don't go out of my way to say they are fantasies.

Writing about Tesla is by no means an easy task ... writing to summarize and throw insights is even more arduous. I hope someone will get passionate ...

Re-reading the text, I realize how tight it is ... it makes me want to write and describe in more detail what I have read and studied over the years but, I have to hold back ... although one could ( and many do ) write whole books on Tesla it turns out too easy to fall into topics that arouse 'embarrassment' and that somehow , if we are not ready and open minded, we try to push away and label. This behavior I do not understand ( even if, in truth, it has been studied by some psychologists ) , a debate would be much more useful but most are entrenched behind flimsy words ... there are few people I have met with whom I have been able to speak freely, perhaps of opposing views ... but I have never been , and I hope never to become, granitic in my 'convictions'.

So, I prefer to leave it that way ... so many insights, a concentration of statements that it is up to the curious to delve into. Curiosity is what drives us to knowledge ... and doubting ... wondering ... is a symptom ( serious and unequivocal ) of intelligence!
